Hello everyone

I put in an application to sponsor my wife who is in sao Paulo Brazil. I understand that step one is taking up to 55 days to be processed for my part of the application. Does anyone know how long it takes before I'm able to see what's going on online on the status of my application?

It's approximately 2-3 weeks to get AOR1. I am June 28th applicant and I have received AOR on July 16th.

AOR1 is when Mississauga receives the application package. AOR2 is when your Visa Office receives the application after AOR1 and SA is completed.
SA means Sponsorship Approval.

AOR1 > SA > File transfers to Visa Office > AOR2 > Applicant will be evaluated > If any document is missing, you will be asked. Maybe interview is required. If everything is good, hopefully they will do PPR (Passport request for Visa Stamp).

AOR = Acknowledgement of receipt

This is when you are given an UCI and File number which could then be used to access ECAS or myCIC.
 
The AOR1 SA and AOR2 is that all sent by mail or is it by email? Also the medical should it be done only whwn they ask for it or once they receive the application that i send my wife to do it? I just dont want to cause any delays.

If you selected the email option then all correspondences will be done through just that. I (sponsor) was sometimes CC'd on emails to my wife (applicant).

Depending on your visa office, your complete process might be less than a year for straight forward cases. In that cases, it is a good idea to submit medical upfront or before they ask you for it. It does create delays when they have to ask you for it.
 
Adding more:

Wait until you have the UCI/File number then go do the eMedical. They will be able to link/send your files directly.

Also, don't rely heavily on ECAS or myCIC. They are rarely updated if at all on time. Emails are the fastest status notifications.
