Hi all,

To make things a little easier, I have decided to fill out the application form for the PR card in advance. However, I am unsure of a few of the questions on the form.

2. Date you became a permanent resident of Canada: this is the date of landing, correct??

19. Address History: we will live with my parents for the first month or so until we have sorted out our housing. I have put this address down for this question...BUT...we are only landing and staying in Canada for a week, then returning to China for about 6 months to wrap everything up and finalize all our moving arrangements. Should I also include our address in China? If I do include our temporary Chinese address, will this cause any problems for issuing the PR card??

21. Travel History: as we will only be staying in Canada for a week after completing the landing formalities, should I fill this out showing that we will return to China to complete our moving arrangements? We'll be back in China for about 6 months, so how do I complete this, that is, do I show the date we will leave Canada and the date when we will return to Canada permanently (e.g. 2013/02 depart Canada - 2013/07 return to Canada permanently)??

I am a bit concerned with 19. and 21. Would this be grounds for misrepresentation on our original application? I mean, we do plan to return to Canada to live permanently, but there are things that we need to do in China before we can leave. I know that a lot of people land, then go home to wrap things up, but how do you answer questions 19. and 21. without causing a problem with the PR card.

Also, I noticed that my wife is wearing a bobby pin in the picture she took for the visa (which is affixed to her COPR). Is that something that could cause a problem for issuing the PR card? Should she take new pictures without anything in her hair and submit to the officer at the airport in Vancouver?

Thanks for any help!

FS

The PR application is only for renewals. It will not be filled out as part of the landing process. Stop filling it out and throw it away.

I read a post on here by 'qorax' stating we should have the form filled out ahead of time to make things go faster (easier).

Are you sure we don't need to complete it? Even when we land?

So then the only things we really need are:

1. Passport with valid visa
2. COPR
3. B4 forms for goods accompanying and goods to follow

How about taking new pictures? Will the bobby pin in my wife's hair (in the original pictures we submitted) be a problem? If we did take new pictures, would it matter if they don't match the originals??

Thanks!

When landing as PR you dont need to fill the form for PR as said by Scylla....You will receive the PR automatically with in the processing time of PR at the address you provided on the CORP...You just need the 3 times you said in your post and its does not matter now about the pics or other stuff...Good luck

Hello

I made a soft landing on Aug 3rd 2015 and went back to US same day, I plain to make a permanent move on July 2nd 2018. I should be meeting the 2 years out of 5 clause if I stay until Aug 2nd 2020..correct ?

Also, since I went back the same day did not apply for a pr card. Which form should I use now to apply for a pr card...there seem to be 2 links in the cic website 1 https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio...on-renew-replace-permanent-resident-card.html
2 https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio...placement-renewal-change-sex-designation.html

Correct. They are the same thing. The first points to the second.

You don't apply for a PR card. When you land, whether it is a soft landing or not, they automatically mail the PR card to you.

If you never received it then I guess you need to request a replacement.

Yes, I am absolutely positive you don't need to complete it!

Correct. It helps CBSA if you provide a 'total' of all of the items on your B4 forms.

How about taking new pictures? Will the bobby pin in my wife's hair (in the original pictures we submitted) be a problem? If we did take new pictures, would it matter if they don't match the originals??

You do not need new photographs, the CIC office that deals with your PR Card issue can and does use the photos you supplied with your sponsorship application. If they want new photos, they will ask.

When you land, tell the nice CBSA agent that you want to declare PR and show him your CoPR.

He will then direct you to another agent who will process your CoPR. That agent will ask you for a Canadian residential address that they can send the PR Card to. If you have this, then your card will be applied for (i.e. they will send all your paperwork to Sydney NS where PR Cards are processed. Your first PR Card could arrive anywhere between 2 and 4 months from landing assuming they don't ask for new photos. It arrives in the normal CanadaPost.

After this process, you should tell the agent that you have good to follow etc. They will then direct you to another agent who will process your forms.

After that, welcome to Canada - off you go to the baggage hall to collect your suitcases!

It sounds like it takes ages, but actually it only took us an extra 30 minute. It may take longer depending on how many in the line ahead of you (only one ahead of us when we landed, but that was at Ottawa airport which is always nice and quiet!
