I don't get why you're concerned about your sister's name? Is she your dependent?

Dear all,
I need you opinion regarding an issue.
Currently I am a permanent resident of Canada. During the processing of my application, my sister changed her first name (some months after I submitted my application). However, I just realized this change.
I called the call center and the lady told me since she changed her name after submission of your PR application (even though the name was changed before finalizing the application), you do not need to do anything and only when she wanna apply for a visiting visa, she needs to provide documents in this regard.
Changes at the minister and secretary of state levels don't really affect the case processing activities. That happens only when new legislation or protocols are introduced.

I wouldn't count on getting any updates for now
Logically speaking it could be that:
1. They are too busy with preparing hand over notes for the incoming government and the left over FSW 2014 will become the responsibility of the incoming government;
2. On the positive side they may decide to wrap up FSW 2014 left over applications before they hand over (November 4 for Prime Minister take over) so that incoming government will see the good the Harper govt have been doing. Or so that they don't overload incoming government with applications that the incoming government knows little about.
No, she is not my dependent. I just wanted to know whether I should inform CIC about this change right now or whenever she wanna apply for visitor visa, she can mention it.

Cantaloupe, do you have any idea why CPC-Ottawa has stopped to send PPR to phd and other FSW-2014 applicants since a few month ago? When we can expect to get a good new eventually?
You don't have to tell them about your sister. The only thing that you need to inform them of is any change in your/your dependent's situation. Your other relatives don't matter as far as your PR application is concerned.

No, unfortunately I don't know what's going on. I know one person who's still waiting for their file to be concluded while their notes indicate that their case has been labelled 'ready for visa' since as early as August. I would assume that their resources may have focused on EE, because they have vowed to complete those applications within six months whereas the projected timeline for the old FSW and CEC programs were (and still are) quite long. See this article:

Got the GMCS notes today that I had ordered a month ago.
Nothing exciting really. The only update after July was a note of my updated passport info in September (following an email I had sent in late July lol).
Criminality still in progress according to this. However, it does say that I passed the RCMP screening though, and I contacted the company that sent the police certificate from back home and they confirmed that they sent in July. So there shouldn't be anything missing here, which leads me to believe that simply no one has looked at my application for some months.
