I have been asked to send my passports to CHC New Delhi within 45 days. I am in Canada at present, and cannot travel back to India till end Nov.
I want to ask CHC for an extension in time, to allow me to submit my passports in early Dec.
Has anyone made such a request to CHC and got an time extension for passport submission?
Is CHC Delhi very strict about the 45 day time window to submit the passport?

I am speaking from experience. They NEVER give any extension.
Write clearly your situation and give rational reason why you cannot submit now..they will accept and provide extension.....but the extension date depends on the VO who decided how long he can give...all the best..
