Anyone know if I can get the vaccine even though I don't have a health card? I am still waiting for my PR and I am ready to pay to get the vaccine.
I don't want to travel to my country just to get the vaccine, especially IRCC doesn't recommend travelling outside Canada at this time.
Everyone got their first dose, I'm the only one in the house without being vaccinated...
Yes, not an issue. At least not in Ontario. You just need any picture ID by a government ( not necessarily Canadian government ). Speaking from experience here, after getting wife vaccinated. Lots of misinformation on these threads, so always good to look up government websites as a better source than a forum.

edit: if anyone would like to list the rest of the provinces/territories that will not require a health card number please do as this will help many looking for answers here!
You're correct but the comment (as I understood it) was that those without an OHIP# may have difficulty booking for the vaccine. Indeed it seems that's what the city of Toronto announcement is about, helping those who may be having difficulty with the booking process.
Or put more simply, you don't need an OHIP# to get the vaccine, but many of the vaccine sites may be requiring an OHIP# to make the appointment. Also possible they'll accept other ID but how to do so may be unclear or hard to find. At least this matches what I've heard.
It's a not-uncommon quirk in a health system that assumes every resident of Ontario has an OHIP# esp given the quick roll-out, some 'edge cases' are not that uncommon; good on the city for identifying the issue and helping people navigate the process.
(Don't know but assume there may be similar issues in other provinces but each has their own health system quirks)

My friends are coming from Pakistan via Chicago, then by car [from Chicago] to Canada. Could someone explain me why the hell people are getting exempted from hotel quarantine when they are crossing borders by car ??? Can’t they force them like what they’re doing at the airports??

I heard one other poster said it will be difficult to enforce land border travelers for mandatory hotel quarantines. It really doesn't make sense except for remote places such as Sweet Grass / Coutts land boder where there are no hotels nearby. But i suppose they can verify their check in/out and quarantine at the nearest hotel (that might be somewhere in Lethbridge AB).
