Lufthansa n associated Air Canada is cheap! You cn book with a debit card if you hv a good upper limit set. N like rightly said, MMT gives u an option to block the ticket. I booked directly with Lufthansa airline as they hv many options but evn they hv gone expensive now. Do keep a check tht there should be no more than one Schengen transit point.
Ps: I booked without a visa too.

no they don't
so be prepared to either pay for third luggage
or pack two.

hi aravind, how much is the ticket charge?

I was looking at the Lufthansa-Air Canada Code Share option as someone mentioned or there is Jet/Air Canada code share, which is a good one too. Word of advice on British Airways: Strict with baggage allowance and can neglect South Asians, so I would avoid that, and yep not so great, I would rate Lufthansa/Air Canada/Jet Airways to be better service wise as well.

I will be leaving mostly on 26th, and found Mumbai-Frankfurt-Toronto-Edmonton OR Mumbai-Frankfurt-Calgary-Edmonton on Lufthansa/Air Canada code share at around 60K with decent stops(not too long, not too short) the best option. Do make sure you see how long the layovers are, too short ones could highly likely pose a problem as well especially if the onward airline is not the same or not even a codeshare(they won't rearrange for you).

Lufthansa offers 2(1 + 1 complimentary) Pieces(23 kgs each) for flights to Canada via Europe, which is the best you can get I think and it'll be available on codeshare Air Canada flights as well. Too bad I can't find any better baggage allowance or exclusive student offers which were very common 2-3 years back. Also, if you take Jet Airways/AC option it'll be via London and won't require the transit visa unless you want to get out of the Airport.

Another option at similar price is United to Newark(16 hours direct flight) and onwards from Newark to Calgary/Edmonton/XYZ on Air Canada. However the problem with this you need to get an additional US transit visa for the stopover in Newark, which isn't a feasible option IMO unless you have relatives in New York.
