maybe an unrelated question but waiting time on the CIC call center is more than one hour this morning..
I recently renewed my passport but my application for PR was donde with the old one. My passport number is still the same (only different picture of course).
Anyone knows if it is necessary to send copies of the new passport?
I didnt even think about this until yesterday night....

Hello every one any updates for nov applications my file was received on 12 nov. More than 5 and few days now no req for rprf. Plz help me some what should i do now or i have to wait. Any nov applicant got request for rprf. Thanks
I think it's relative since each case is different. It depends also in how efficient the consulate in your country is to do the background check. Still have a hope of course

Confirm again that the new passport has same number as the old???? This shouldn't be the case!!!!
I would say don't send in a copy of the new for now. Once CIC sends your PPR, send the 2 passports (old + new one). Certainly CIC would never issue a visa on an expired passport so the agent handling your case would know the meaning of receiving a renewed passport with the old one initially used in your application.
Come to think of it you have never read where CIC said notify us if you renew your passport. But they do say notify us if you have change of address or new birth or married.

Thanks Ed_nia
You are right, I never saw anywhere that CIC requests this, maybe I will just do that and send both passports.
The number is the same because we use what would be something like the SIN number on our ID documents in my country so it never changes. There are other numbers but the "Passport number" is fixed.... actually for me it was very odd to see other passports changing numbers when you renew them .
