I have come here on Visitor Visa as my husband is a Temporary Skilled worker with W1 visa over here. I, then, applied for work permit from Canada only and I got an open work permit. I am not sure whether I need to apply for work Visa or Temporary resident visa again. The expiry date of my visitor visa is in 2022 and it is with multiple entry. So, do I need to change my Visa status after getting my open work permit. Please help me with this.

The open work permit (status document) gives you authorization to work and worker status. Your status has been changed from Visitor to a Worker by getting the open work permit.
The visa (TRV) is an entry document and is valid until its expiry and used to re-enter Canada after travelling out to a different country.
Thank you for your immediate response. One more query is that, when I reached canada, the immigration officer asked for my return ticket. So I was allowed to stay for 6 months only. Now due to this work permit I can stay as much longer as I want? Can I cancel my return ticket now?

My husband is a PR and I came to Canada on visitor visa. After coming here I applied for Spousal PR and OWP.
I got OWP and it is valid till 2020. Now my question is, do I need to get work visa stamped on my passport??? my 6months visitor stay will expire in Jan 2019.

1. No, you don't need anything stamped in your passport, your work permit is just a visitor permit with permission to work. You don't have to extend your visitor permit.
