he got the pass request almost 2 months after the "bgc in progress" update.

I'm not sure what is 'pass request', but based on his signature he had Background status "In Progress" on 26th June 2023 and FD on 3rd October, what is 3+ months for a check.

By Pass request I meant "passport request letter" to get the visa stamp
based on the guy's timeline:
26th June 2023 : Tracker Application history updated with Background Verification status changed to "In Progress".
3rd October : Final Decision on GC Key with a Information letter explaining next steps.
Usually a couple of days before the final decision bgc is completed. even if we consider June 26 to October 3 it 69 days which is almost 2 months. And 2months is not the duration of a comprehensive check. So we can be hopeful that the said message doesn't refer to being under comprehensive background check.

I'm sorry, but I still don't get how July + August + September + a few days in June and October can be 2 months and not 3+...

Hello family,

I'm looking for similar experiences regarding the following issue:

My permanent residence application is in progress. Biometrics, Medicals, eligibility, information sharing, and criminality have all been validated. Security didn't start until May 9, 2024, when I received a ghost update. Upon calling IRCC, I learned that my security is now in progress.

I saw this update on the tracker on May 10, 2024.

By talking to people around me, I learned that this update only appears on the tracker when the application is undergoing a comprehensive security screening, which can take months, or even a year or more, to be approved.

Could someone share their experiences on this? Is this really the case? Have you got same update on the Tracker before?

Same my tracker also updated to Background verification status has been updated to in progress on May 24 2024. What does that mean some receive Background verification status has been updated to complete.

I also know an inland guy who got same tracker update on January 24, 2024 and received P1 on April 12, 2024 ! That was in two months and half !

I received an ADR on 12th April and submitted on the same day. After 3days the status in GCKey changed to additional document uploaded and since 29th April it is under review. Since i’m living in a sanctioned country and the ADR was related to my conscripted military service I assume you guys are right and i am under comprehensive security check. But it is weird, AOR 30th November 2023, since I created my tracker profile background check was in progress since the beginning and it updated to in progress again while being in progress!
Another question is the eligibility was “not started” and it’s almost 3 months that the status is “in progress”. When does eligibility update to completed? Isn’t there a way to know atleast one of them is completed?

Hi! We have the same ADR about military records. Our AOR is September 29, ADR request was in mid March.
Our eligibility was changed to Completed in the end of February.
Background is in progress since the tracker creation. The last tracker update was in the beginning of May without any updates or new lines in the tracker.

Hey Medmar,
What you heard is correct and I am also in the same boat. My security check started from 8th March and there is no update so far. Once you see this message in your tracker that your application has gone to comprehensive security check. I have created a watsapp group for such people please feel free to join for further updates. That group was very useful for waiting applicants but the thread was suddenly nuked by the administrator. Even a very useful excel google doc was deleted. No explanation, suddenly the thread vanished. A crazy, irresponsible person.
