Hello,
I am a dependent/underage child applying for a study permit( I have been accepted into university) and I want my mum to escort me to Canada. Basically, I want her to have a temporary visitor visa so she can come and visit me whenever.
I have two questions:
1. When applying online, should I apply for her visa with my account? So a family application would be submitted? Or should she create her own GCKey account? This is confusing because I want us to get our visa at the same time so we can leave together.
2. If applying for another family member in one account, you will be asked to fill the "Use of a Family Representative" form. Can I be the representative when I am a dependent child?

You need to apply from one account because she will be accompanying you. Even if you are a minor, you are the primary applicant. However, your mum will fill/supervise and sign the applications for you.
Yes you will be asked to fill the family representative form it is just a standard form that generates when family members make a joint application. Your mum is the one who will fill it because she is representing you. In other words she is the appointed representative authorized to conduct business on your behalf and receive information on your case file.

Your mother is a seperate application. The university should be able to help you but you need a Canadian guardian due to your age even if your mother gets her TRV approved.
I have a custodian but I am going to live on campus.
So she should create her own GCKey account? Due to the varying processing times, our visas may not be granted at the same time though.
Also, do you recommend applying online or in person?

Yes - there are varying processing times right now and your mother's visa may not be ready in time to travel. Depending when you plan to travel and whether travel restrictions are still in place, she may also need authorization from IRCC in order to be allowed to travel.
The mother is not part of the application and putting the application together doesn't indicate so but since she wants to accompany the student in his travel its best they do it at once. One application is for study permit while the other is for TRV.
If she applies separately for TRV what would be her reason for travel? Still accompanying him/her. Due to the current length in processing times. I don't think this is viable.
If she wants to apply separately she would have to wait for him/her to get approved first and then apply based on that reason. Its better they apply together. It makes things and explanation easier. Its just two separate applications in one file. Except if his/her mother isn't interested in accompanying and would prefer to visit later on.

I have been granted study permit for May 2021 intake along with my husband and child. Now i want my mother to accompany me on visitor visa for initial 3-4 few months so that while we settle in there she can spend time with my son in my absence.
1. If i select the purpose of visit as " visit family/friends", i have to upload the invitation letter. Is this valid that i invite her along with me to stay for some months in Canada.
2. If i write the invitation letter - has it to be written to immigration officer or to my mother to invite her?
3. Should i apply using her own different GC key? since i have already received my study permit.
