Once CIC approves what’s the avg time taken by VFS to return back the passports. This is not fair as it takes a considerable amount of time. People with dire needs such as me need to go back to our country due to emergency.

One more doubt I have. I understand the part where I have to cut all ties. Does that include revoking my Canadian citizen ship or I get to hang on to that?
Oh no! You are a Canadian citizen for life! Unlike PR, you are always a citizen till you voluntarily give it away and you have no reason to give it away. You can remain a citizen but for tax purposes, once you cut all ties, you are a citizen who is a resident of another country and hence not tax liable. This is an advantage of Canadian citizenship that if you cut ties, you are not liable for tax in Canada unlike US citizenship where you are ALWAYS liable for tax!

Strange. A friend who submitted on 7th September and whose docs reached ADVO on 10th September got approved status and his passports have been despatched.
