I have just attended a Canadian orientation session today, in which the demonstrator wz demonstrating us about our arrival in canada.
neways at one point she was saying its preferable tht we take the draft thr for the funds we wld move thr instead of cash.
so she was saying tht we have to keep with us the essential funds required by one person wch is 11050 dollars /person as given in guide.
so my question is if we dont take tht much funds with us nd instead take the half of the amount like 6000 dollars draft...will the immigration officer object it nd ll it affect the receiving of PR card.

You have to show at "landing" the total amount of settlement funds for the size of your family. It can be a bank statement, cash, traveller's cheques, or Bankers draft, but you have to show the full amount. Note that the banker's draft can take up to 30 days to clear in a Canadian bank.
r u sure about it, bcz my sister living in canada who is an immigrant and now bout to get a nationality says tht no it doesnt matter.
nd they dont concern it..plz reply with details if u hv landed thr aswell,
Leo just check the number of posts PMM has.
they do check these days as PMM said. better , keep that amount with you.
guys pls advice. d cic has asked that i send bank statement of 12mths showing that i have up to the required amt as stated in the guide. my bank statement does not have history of large amounts of money but my current balance is up to the required amout(CAD11025) is this sufficient?
if CIC has doubts in tht case they ask for 6 month old statements...though i am not sure but if u can somehow explain ur current amount its an outcome of selling some of ur belongings/assets then i think ur current statement though not old can be accepted. but u may take some more suggestions over it cz i m not sure.
thanks leo..pls i wouldnt mind if u can help research on this..more suggestionz pls...
I am saying it on behalf of the orientation session i attended yesterday. they emphasis upon tht we shd hv proof of everything we show to them.
If for single person it says 11050, you need to have that with you when you are doing your landing, it can be draft or sometimes a latest bank statement or letter will also get through. But the amount should match, you can carry more than that, but definitely not less.
Hope this helps.
Thanks,
KK

Better carring requred amount then you are in safe Zone.
kanadakanmani do u mean tht i dont have to take the money but if i take a letter from my bank tht i do have the required amount in my local bank account...will it work?
Yes it should work, as i have read in one of the post. Will try to search that up. But do agree with "goodhope" as that would put you in safezone.
You can take a draft from your bank, show it at POE and put it back in the account if you want to settle later.
ok thnx for ur valuable suggestions nd i ll look fwd to ur message if u cld search through tht message
