Are travels verified? When I enter Canada, my PR card is scanned, but will this be used to validate the proof of the 730 days? I may have a rental in Canada but be living in another country—how would they know that?
They know when I entered, but not when I left. Would this be a loophole in the validation?

Yes IRCC can verify your entries and exits. This is a very stupid plan that will likely result in you losing your PR status.

Not true.
An entry into the country you first entered when leaving Canada will show up at CBSA.

Exit information: When you travel to the U.S. at a land border crossing, we receive your biographic entry information from U.S. authorities. We use this information to create your Canadian exit record. When you leave Canada by air, we collect basic exit information directly from air carriers through passenger manifests.

So, unless you crossed the border illegally when exiting Canada...your exit is no secret to CBSA
You think CBSA doesn't know when you leave Canada?
