One of the qualifications under the LCP is "six months of full-time training. You may have gained your training or experience in early childhood education, geriatric care, pediatric nursing or first aid, to name a few areas or you have completed your training as part of your formal education".
Does anybody know what school/program in Vancouver will qualify. Will an ECE diploma qualify? Health Care Assistant Diploma qualify? I'm looking at the Live-in Caregiver Program at Sprott Shaw...will that qualify? The Health Care Assistant program is on elderly care and the Sprott Shaw touch on ECE and mostly elderly care. How do I know which programs the government will accept under the LCP? This will be for nanny position for 2 boys.
If anybody can clarify, that would be greatly appreciated.
It's actually for somebody I know and not for myself.
He is currently here in Vancouver on a working holiday visa and will be going back to Japan in July 2014. He plans to apply for a study permit to Canada Vancouver and hopes to take the 6 month Live-in Caregiver Training Course in order to qualify under the LCP. After he passes his course he will leave Canada, go back to Japan, and hopefully apply to come to Canada under the LCP. He doesn't have childcare/caregiver experience so he is hoping to qualify via the 6 months course with the certificate as proof of attending the course. he does have a willing sponsor. He is 21 and graduated from high school which is the equivalent of grade 12. His English is good but he will be taking the IELTS examine to see where is English level is at. There are no concerns regarding his medical or criminal records.
Based on this information, do you think he has a chance at being approved?
