Hello all!

I've searched around for an answer to this one but couldn't find anything. Please forgive me if this is a duplicate.

My husband and I are starting to go through the process of immigration to bring him in to the country. We'd been dating for 11 years before we got married, which leads to some problems with filling out these forms in that we've been together for so long there's no way we can remember exact dates of when he met friends and family!

I don't want to lie on the form (or rather make an educated guess), but I honestly don't know the exact dates. Has anyone ever sent in the month and year of when a family member met your spouse, leaving the day blank? I'm worried if I guess when these dates are, they could match them against records of when my husband was in the country and see that they don't match.

Any advice?

Thanks!

Explain in a letter what you have just posted.

Makes perfect sense to me and I think an IO would agree.

We are, after all human and I believe someone that lists dates, times etc for 11 years would probably cause more suspicion, than someone that admits they didn't keep records because the intention was a relationship first, immigration second.

Don't guess - you are right that the visa officer may check dates against other submitted material, and if there is a discrepancy will accuse you of lying.
Just put what you know - if you know the month and year, put that and leave the date blank. If you only know the year, or the season and year, that's OK too. You can always attach an explanation, stating you don't remember the exact date because it was 11 years ago, but you do remember it was in the spring of 1998, or whatever.
