My partner went through the same, did the medical exam for the visitor extension and already did the medical. We applied 1st of December so fingers crossed that it will be finalized soon

Why you need a medical for work permit? Thats strange.

They asked for it for the visitor record but if I remembered correctly they asked in your application if you did a medical exam before. I guess for certain job you must do it.

It is due to Automated analytics with auto-triage. Timelines may slightly vary:

The triage function of the tools takes on most clerical and repetitive tasks related to sorting applications, allowing officers to focus their attention on assessing applications and making final decisions. I am not so sure about the photo requirements of the open work permit.
