Prearrival means nothing. It is sent during processing but does not mean you are close to COPR. Unfortunately you probably have quite a long time to wait for COPR.

I understand youre trying to help but why are you always killing others hope lol its almost like you get paid to say “pre arrival means nothing you have to wait forever”. We KNOW, no need to rub it in our faces every second.
In general as long as you have similar processing time to others there is no need to contact IRCC or an MP because they will just tell you this is normal processing. Expect slower processing at every step. That has been the reality for at least 6 months but will likely get worse. The math just doesn’t math.

The person likely doesn’t know or they wouldn’t be mentioning it. On a daily basis I see posts where people get pre-arrival and think they should be landing soon. I wish IRCC would either change the name or make it clear this is procedural not an indication of processing times. I am giving people a realistic view of what to expect. Not being realistic and expecting/hoping for faster processing or not understanding the process is also not helpful.

Yes I understand where you’re coming from, but I’m not the only one who has said this. A lot of other members have raised concerns about you. We understand its a very draining process and supporting each other with some words of positivity is very important, especially right now. Receiving a letter like Pre-arrival can still give some of us hope even if it means nothing. Don’t crush it.

Assuming that you are at the end of the process because you receive Prearrival when it is actually not true is not great either. I look at what is going on in the US for example (not to mention many other countries) and it is very frustrating to see people not appreciate how generous and welcoming Canada remains. There are certainly issues with IRCC and immigration policy but the money Canada has spent on just asylum claimants in the past 10 years is insane and it remains one of the most generous and welcoming countries in the world for asylum seekers which I think many forget.

It seems a new trend is emerging from IRCC where a date is assigned to the decision section without any notifying email until a week or two has passed. I’ve seen this happen in even study permit applications. Some persons with this issue have contacted ircc and are being told to wait. Just be patient you will get it soon if you haven’t as yet. The next step is portal 1. A lot people are having decision dates in portal and no email..
I hope all applications submitted in 2022 will be approved this year.
Saw today that the US is pausing the ability to apply for a green card as an approved asylum seeker or refugee. Life is about perspective. Yes processing is long millions in the world would trade places with you in a second.

There has always been a lag time before you get P1 or PPR. There is a longer period now because IRCC is trying to land people slowly over the year for quota reasons.
