I have a silly question: My partner is currently waiting for his medical letter; everything else has been approved. We applied for a TRV last year, and it was approved. We’re wondering if he can come and wait here until the decision is made. I recall hearing something about TRV approval for family members to wait until their decision is finalized.

You are protected person/convention refugee and applied for pr. You also included your spouse who lives outside of Canada. But you did not get approved yet.
Your partner has trv already?

Oh ok. So I asked you because I just wanted to tell you about my situation. I am convention refugee but my partner is not. My partner was in Canada already and we got married before my hearing. We were together before I claimed.
I got positive NOD and we applied for pr together. After we applied for open wp for my partner. My partner was eligible because of married to a convention refugee/protected person.
We applied in May, 2023. Still waiting for pr. My partner got pre arrival letter too. Passed eligibility.
I am not sure about yours because he was outside of Canada. If he comes here maybe eligible for wp. Better to ask an immigration lawyer or consultant.

Some situation. May I know how did you get an open work permit for your partner? I applied through IRCC portal and got rejected. It’s a wrong pathway to this situation? Thanks
