I didn't got AOR email, but I just successfully linked my application to my IRCC account, 100%, and application number here

Use passport details instead of place of birth, might give better results, not sure how the system recognizes place of birth since some have abbreviations.

so linking is for getting an update regarding your application..which means they started processing to give you those updates

You don't need app number, just use UCI, Family name, passport details followed.

Also, keep in mind, no rush, they allow only 5 tries within 24 hrs .
