Got the email for passport request today. Almost three weeks since they completed the medical.
As always, I hope those who are waiting are reunited with their parents soon.

My parents passports are expiring in December 2016. I am just wondering if any one who got letter for passport request from CIC for their parents can help me in knowing the details of passport request? Does it say that the passport must be 6 months away from expiry date for PR visa stamping? I would really appreciate if someone can share the letter here.
Need to correct mistake happened while file the PR for parents as forget to mentioned previous visitor visa refusal info. How I can correct that mistake as parents medical done already
We just got passport request and the letter clearly mentions that the passport must be valid for at least 12 months from the date of the letter i.e. Passport request. I'd suggest they renew passports if they're anticipating PPR as you only have 30 days to send in your passports.

I agree with the following. By default, passport must be valid for at least 6 months to enter Canada for anyone. For specific reasons (like PR visa stamping), CIC may ask for 12 months validity as well.

It's true that CIC says PCC is valid for 6 months. However in our case we submitted it in September 2015 (issued in August 2015) although it wasn't required . Meds where done in April 2016 and we got PR in June 2016. CIC did not ask for a new PCC, they just used the one sent previously. So, in order to speed up the process I suggest you send your PCC as soon as you can, instead of waiting for their request.
just my 2 cents...
I think in the sponsorship letter they mention that you start applying for PCC. I would suggest you get it done as PCC is valid for 6 months. As soon as you get the PCC you can send it to your LVO.
