Thanks
Got my oath invite for mid July. ~20 months between test and oath, and it likely would have been longer if I hadn’t decided to make the big escalation

What do you mean by big escalation? What did you do?

Let's just say if you feel like your case is clearly showing signs of an unreasonable delay, you should consult a lawyer
I did but I was told to wait at least 2 years before taking the mandamus route. Is ther anything else that a lawy

You are talking about the mandamus route or something else?
You are talking about the mandamus route or something else?
Yup. But hitting the 2 year mark is good advice. I was at about 26 months when I filed, got the oath invite about 3 weeks later

Lawyers over here told me it will cost around 5k to file Mandamus, that's way too much.

So you got your oath invite 3 weeks after your filed for Mandamus through a lawyer?
A lawyer told me the 2-year mark is about the time for the mandamus route. It could cost between 3-7K. This however, doesn't include sending one or two demand letters to ircc. the lawyer said each letter costs around 1K. If they do not answer to the demand letters then the FC mandamus would be the final option.
They don't answer demand letters, they only really do that to demonstrate that CIC has not been responsive
Btw, the effectiveness of this route is highly dependent on how your application has gone so far. If you still have security clearances pending, if you've received RQ's etc, it'll make it more difficult to get a favourable outcome. Like I said, consult a good lawyer regarding the possibility
