Hey @myat - may I ask if one doesn't have a valid passport from one's own country, can one still apply for Canadian Citizenship in the first place? Would love to know more about this. Thank you!

Hi,

I'm Canada PR and will be eligible to apply for Citizenship on June mid based on my Physical presence calculator. My PR is expiring in the month of Jan, 2023.

My wife and kid are staying in US and my wife who works in US in H1B visa recently purchased a house and might require my presence to go for multiple meeting with builders towards the closing of the home in the month of September & October 2022. They really do need my assistance as I frequently travel to help them with things. I really might need to be physically present when the house is ready by October.

I"M BENEFICIERY OF THIS FORUM IN 2017 FOR MY PR PROCESSING WITH ALL OF YOUR HELP.

Now, I really need your help and assistance in guiding me how to get my CItizenship faster, So i can physically be present in USA by the month of Oct 2022.

Can I apply the application in URGENT PROCESSING stating as I need to travel frequently towards the expiry of my PR(in August,sep & October) and my family need my presence? It will also open door for me to get jobs and stay with them permanently. This might need Citizenship to apply for TN Visa to work in US, I presume i will be still waiting for my citizenship in this period(August to Oct).

Your suggestions will be a greatly appreciated.

To apply for urgent processing, you must be eligible to apply for citizenship and have an emergency, such as:

• needing Canadian citizenship to:
  • apply for a job
  • avoid losing your job
  • go to a Canadian school, college or university
• needing to travel because of death or serious illness in your family and you can’t get a passport in your current nationality
• receiving a successful Federal Court decision on an appeal on a previous application for citizenship

NO! Why would Canada give you an urgent citizenship so that you can work in another country???

Just look around the forum and see that very few cases would fall under this category mainly very specialized federal jobs that require a high level of security clearance etc. You need to have a letter from the agency that they have offered you the job but it will be subject to you getting citizenship or something on that lines.

Traveling is not an issue with a valid PR card.

Just received oath invite for March 30. However, I’m travelling on March 26. Flights booked and all. Do you think I can request for an earlier oath date under urgent processing?
