Guys I got my stamped passport this week. I was thinking of traveling early August, spending time with family and stuff. But seeing with a new crisis brewing is it advisable to go asap?

If Canada offers help then I think yes. But Poland, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, Czech Republic all have already said that they are ready to welcome refugees from Ukraine so most people would probably settle in that region.

IMO depends on how important is Canada to you. For me, I'd run as fast as possible. The way these things are panning out you cannot predict the next actions. Russia invading Ukraine, this is not a regular everyday thing. If it adds significant delays to my travel, I'd blame myself for not travelling when I had the chance to.

But again if Canada opens the route to refugees, which is slightly possible, A lot of Ukrainians might prefer moving to Canada. In turn it would slightly deprioritize processing of other apps. As much as I'd be unhappy about it, I'd 100% support it. Ukrainians are in a lot worse condition than most of us and I hope this madness stops asap.

Yes, if I had a chance I would go farther than I am currently located. I desperately would like to leave Europe at this point but can't find the way how to exit
Sorry but this is the dumbest view ever and it is the very thing that's kept angry fellas here waiting for literally years. Keep being all ever loving and compassionate and maybe you'll land in 5 years lol
Agreed. Poor ordinary people must be going through hell right now due to stupid politics. They should be evacuated asap. Indifference to the people in such situation is just grotesque.
This is one thing I don't understand, I live in US and I love US.
But I don't think all the essential minerals in this world belong to US .If china has the money let them buy .
I can list atleast 5 countries which became waste land because US wanted the minerals/oil and they resisted it.The world doesn't belong only to US there are other countries left.
What if china is the world power will the sky collapse or will it rain fire ? No
Just media hype nothing else.
This so called nice guys contribute a lot to arab nations Iraq,Lybia,Syria,Afganistan......latin America I am not starting.
Any conflict or failed state there will be either UK or US involved in it.
Honourable mentions
Israel vs Palestine
India vs pak
A trio of U.S. lawmakers are blasting Canada’s “complicit approval” that allowed the sale of a Toronto-listed lithium mining company to a Chinese state-owned firm, and are urging Biden administration officials to investigate the acquisition.
"I was astonished that this was approved without much scrutiny from Prime Minister (Justin) Trudeau’s government," Rep. Walz said to CTV News. "China’s increased economic influence over companies in both the U.S. and Canada is a grave national security threat, especially as it pertains to critical minerals that are essential to the future of U.S. energy independence."
How the F do you sell a lithium mining company in the middle of a technological lithium battery boom that will last for at least another 30 good years?
I mean, if this isn't a national security threat, what the F is ?
By 2030, almost all automobiles produced will run on batteries and potentially half of all the automobiles in the road will need a lithium battery to run and you go ahead and sell a lithium mining company to your greatest competitor ?

Indeed stupid politics, they gave away their nuclear power with security guarantees from US and Russia.
Being part of the ex-Soviet Union they should have clearly anticipated that you don't play nice in that region. They understand only one thing over there, and that is power. Power is what keeps you safe, not only in Eastern Europe.
Yeap, that was a gross mistake. Ukraine shouldn't have fallen into that trap. The Ukrainian dude signing that agreement must have been super naive to expect Russia to comply with its obligations. Sad.

West probably won't interfere militarily because that would probably erupt ww3. And I don't think that Russia would go farther than Ukraine (eg Hungary, Poland etc - ex post soviet bloc) because Ukraine is surrounded by NATO members.
