Please, I need information on people that fall into this category. Were you able to extend your study permit when you switched from an undergraduate program to a two-year college program without enrolling in your course even after asking your old school to defer to the next semester?
You need a new study permit, if you never studied in the program you were accepted. You can only change if you have studied in your first program for a semester or year. Are you in Canada now?

Thank you so much for your response, for someone that has already went ahead with the change after he got to Canada, he has to apply for a new study permit right?

I’m already in Canada and my current study permit expires in April, I was planning on extending in March.
my first study permit was for U of Manitoba but starting with a 8 months course in the international college of Manitoba(hope you understand what I mean)
my problem now is I already went ahead with the DLI change and classes starts in January in my new DLI ( it does not exceed the 150 days authorized leave) should I apply for a new study permit now or wait a month before my current study permit expires?

I don't know the chances of getting a new SP. You'll have to apply and see what happens. I would strongly recommend you apply as soon as possible. You don't have that much time.
You were told about this back in early September so the fact you need a new SP shouldn't be coming as a surprise now.
