People who have completed their test and waiting for their oath date can forget about getting it this year. September applicants who took their test in June 2021 are now getting their oath ceremonies scheduled in January 2022.
Whats the rush! Thankfully I am not in a position where I needed it badly (This way I calm down myself lol)
- I can go back to my country whenever I want also can go to states since I have US visa lol.
- I am not a refugee claimant (not to be disrespectful. trying to to say how grateful i am that life didn't put me into that situation!)
- I have access to all benefits except voting (sure I can't vote but if I am sick or need education or EI, I know I have these options available!)
Sure having the Citizenship of Canada will open up more doors that I am not even aware of but thankfully we are living in a country where it could be far worse if we would live somewhere else.
Besides we can't do anything except to wait for the Oath invitation. Some people are lucky who are getting it more quicker than others but again no one should compare their life with other in any point of their life.
I have received the request for passport pages. I have a small problem. One travel stamp is not very visible. Did anyone face similar challenge? They have requested to translate everything that is not in English. I can only read ABR that means APR(April). And do you know where to get this translated? Thanks for help. All the best, everyone!
Well, you can only provide what you have. Provide the stamps as-is to the translator and they'll get the job done. Even if it is faint (mine was), they'll translate it as long as they are able to see the content on the stamp. If the stamp is barely visible (almost completely erased / faded), then they'll write "Unable to translate" or something on those lines which is perfectly fine.
I used
Docsbase - Certified translation . Several applicants used this service and they were charged only around 35 - 40 CAD.
I got today a request for passport copies. Does any one know why this would be , could I have put it the wrong travel dates ?Oh lord I hope I did not make mistakes!

Great for you if you are willing to wait but FYI people for whom this long wait is exasperating aren't necessarily refugees or unable to travel. For myself I'd say I'm worried that we may end up becoming the forgotten cases of 2020 as has been the case for a lot of applicants from 2019. Someone else started a thread about how applications might get delayed as they have been told by CIC over the phone that there is currently a shortage of staff due to the situation in Afghanistan - I guess CIC resources have been temporarily diverted towards prioritizing the refugees from there). Once your case is 'forgotten' it could take years before it's updated again.

This seems to be a norm now. You might have submitted only the biographical pages of the passport - as was the requirement prior to June 2021 and not have submitted copies of the remaining pages of your passport. Hence you are being asked to submit the passport pages now.
Guys any news from Calgary office . It's really frustrating! IRCC looks stuck with April 23rd .
Doesn't seem to be any movement for at least a month now. Looks like we Calgarians who applied after July 2020 have been completely forgotten by the IRCC..
Took the test just now and scored 20/20. The test was pretty easy. All the best to anyone who is taking the test in future.

Thanks, I appreciate your help. Hope your Oath Ceremony went well. I have used the same Docsbase service ($35CAD). I am trying to send it today if I receive e-copy today or by tomorrow.

That is reassuring thanks!

I'd take all of that anecdotal information with a great heaping of salt - a lot of it is some extra 'masala'/conjecture sprinkled into a story to drive a narrative. Two months from now, that story will change to 'the CIC agent I spoke to said it was the holiday season, so with the shortage of staff, no applications are being processed'. Early next year, the story will evolve, yet again, to 'since the election happened, there are changes to the government so we're currently in a holding pattern so paperwork will again get delayed'.
I see a lot of this, in the absence of direct, incontrovertible proof like a phone recording or something going on the record to actually state this - as nothing that holds significant reliability. Mind you, Cobie, I'm not calling
you a liar - just that I don't trust those data points are provided to a forum in good faith, but rather projections of what people think are going on based on current news events, disguised as actual data points. I'd steer away from such FUD (Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt).
Additionally, we're not talking about the odd one or two cases slipping through the cracks; we're talking of a backlog of almost 108,000 people since January - even if a third of that gets impacted by this and they get into bureaucracy purgatory, the media vultures would have a field day with it. So no, the process is likely to be delayed, but the opacity at this point means that
none of us really know for sure what fires are burning in the IRCC right now. They are also answerable to other departments as part of the process - so unless the CBSA fancies running upwards of 30,000 applicants through their system over and over again like some sort of an infernal carousel because IRCC can't process their applications fast enough before the security checks lapse, I'm pretty sure some government bureaucrat's items would be in a cardboard box with their potted plant and escorted out the door soon enough.
Hello All,
Did anyone from Vancouver get a test invite? For normal processing. No changes on my status since Apr 23
same.
I got today a request for passport copies. Does any one know why this would be , could I have put it the wrong travel dates ?Oh lord I hope I did not make mistakes!
I've updated the spreadsheet and this type of request is very normal.
Good luck!
Hi, just wanted to gain some insight. A friend of mine from Algeria is applying to come to Manitoba and wants to name me as her primary contact. No connections for financial reasons or so. Might this in any way impact my own citizenship process if I agree to be her primary contact? I am open to helping her but worried about risking my process when its so close to the end. Any thoughts?
