I have a question and hope you'll answer. I was wondering if I were to go to Canada on a student visa by December (while my profile is already in the pool waiting for an ITA) and during the studies if I were to receive PR would I still have to pay international student fees?
ELECTION DEBATE:
The Debate Broadcast Group will be holding two official leaders’ debates, both taking place at the Canadian Museum of History in Gatineau, Quebec.
The French-language debate will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 8, and the English debate will be held on Thursday, Sept. 9.
Very unlikely that they would extend border-reopening a day to election debate

That's the same situation we have now. So presumably the Liberals will keep the same immigration targets or potentially even increase them next year. I don't see the Liberals lowering targets. They might change programs - but not lower targets. Liberals are pro-immigration.

They keep increasing targets without allocating enough resources to expedite the processing of applications. I think the conservatives were much better at handling immigration and they probably never had this insane level of backlogs

Lets stay away from speculations about the elections now ahhahahaha - I have the feeling it will be a ticking bomb on this forum before some people will start offending each other
He will stay as his party is backing him up, he is their leader soo far from what I can see. Even if they will not get majority, for sure he will still be where he is
I'm hearing mixed news, some are saying that the Liberals might seek new leadership if they don't get the majority. Personally, I feel like it's all up for grabs, I mean Scheer did great in the last election winning the Conservatives more seats but was ultimately replaced.

I have no horse in this race from an immigration perspective, but I would say be careful what you wish for.
It's the conservatives who canceled all of the FSW applications that were in progress back in 2012.
I'm not disagreeing that resources are needed and processes have to work. Just saying that in very general terms, immigration policies and processes are going to be more favourable with a liberal government in power and less favourable with a conservative government in power. That's just how it is.
