Will post here when I have that information. As a note though, I just noticed that there is a bug in the system that causes fake ghost updates to be generated. I can now recreate ghost updates anytime I want making them unreliable Potentially, other users are unintentionally recreating GUs due to this bug... so a good advice would to just wait for an actual solid update or just call IRCC
Here is how the bug is easily reproduced (i.e. fake ghost update):
1. Click on “Check full application status”
2. While the page is loading, stop the page from loading and click refresh
3. Congrats, you now have a ghost update (a fake one of course)
You can even try this on approved applications from years ago and confirm that they get ghost updates as well
FYI, I reported this technical issue to IRCC cause I know how meaningful real GUs can be for us.

To clarify, I am not saying all GU are not real, I am just stating, for information purposes, that a fake GU can be unintentionally generated (I also fell for it a couple of days ago which made me believe I received a real
GU). You can give those steps a try yourself. (FYI, I am a software engineer)

I think the one on April 15 should be real because it appeared the first thing after I logged in (I plan to confirm with IRCC during the coming week). For the April 16th one, I remember refreshing the page many times after 9pm since the application status page would not open and all of a sudden an update appears, so that I think it is most probably fake GU (you can check the video here to see what I mean:https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/threads/be-aware-of-fake-ghost-updates-video-included.729155/)
I hope you are doing well. I was reaching out to you because I read that your BWOP was recently approved and I had some questions about the application. Hope you could help.
Scenario:
MY PR application is in progress, I have completed my Biometrics and Medical. I am currently on PGWP which ends in June 2021. I am currently working with over an year of experience in my field.
Questions:
1. Before we receive a list of forms- there are a series of question which includes ""Do you have a written job offer Letter" - Will it be YES or NO? I have gone through the forums and some say YES as I am currently working but some say NO as a written work permit refers to "LMIA letter" which I do not have
2. In the forms IMM 5710 - Section 1 - Question 3 is "I am applying for one or more of the following" - 1. Apply for WP under the same employer OR 2. Apply for a WP for the first time or with the new employer. (I dont think the rest if 2 options apply to me)
3. In the section "Details Of Intended work in Canada" I have read same stuff online that says If we select an "OPEN Work Permit" in the first question - Then Question 2 to 7/8 should be left blank - Is this it? Cause for some answers I saw it says we should give them that information
Does this mean that some stage has been passed and it's been moved to BG processing ?

Hi, so a ghost update (a real one) simply means that your application is under some changes which could be super small changes or could be something as big as passing processing stages (MEP, criminality etc.). As an applicant, one is curious to know if there is progress in the application, and a GU usually means a positive step towards approval. People have gone as far as "decoding" what GUs mean depending on when they were received based on average experiences of applicants (see: https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/threads/application-stages-what-they-mean-mep-ip1-ip2-ghost-update-version-2019.612656/). In conclusion, a GU is generally deemed as a good sign, but there is no absolute/official meaning of GUs. Hope that makes sense and good luck
