Fingerprints expire after 1 year. My first FP expired on 20 Feb 2021 so did IRCC asked to do another FPs in February 2021.
FPs have to be valid throughout the period, at least until Decision is made on the file. Hence my advice to everyone who did FP before to re-do 2nd FP closer to the anniversary of first FP, and have FP result sent to your home. Send it to IRCC whenever they ask for it.
They will certainly ask so it is just a matter of time.
I actually tried to take your advice and do this last month. I asked the fingerprinting agency if they could request RCMP to send a copy of the results to my home address and they declined saying fingerprints could only be sent to the address on the IRCC letter, hence the importance of the letter. Maybe it depends on the agency, but unfortunately this doesn't always work. On the bright side, it only took 11 business days for the mailed results to reach Vancouver, so I don't think speed is an issue nowadays.

I had taken the test on 03/15/2021. I called the contact center today to check if they received my test results. The lady told me that, there was no update on the file about me having taken the test and that they usually do not revisit the file or check for results, until the 21 day window for test is over. I also learnt today that my file is being handled at the Mississauga center.

Hi everyone, I’m looking for some advice on what to do next.
Family of 2
Toronto, ON
Citizenship Application sent: Oct 2019
AOR with study guide: Dec 2019
Invite to test: Feb 2020
Test was supposed to be on March 17, 2020 but was cancelled 2 days before due to COVID. No news ever since.
Wondering how they have been inviting to take a virtual test since Dec 2020 and we haven’t received an invite yet, considering our test was 2 days after they closed (so we should be high up in the list, I would think)
In the website the status of my application just says: In Progress with the last step being my invitation for the test back in Feb 2020.
Not sure about you but whenever I received something that I waited for long time, I usually keep looking and checking on it even when I received it already, just to remind myself about a long game waiting hahahaha
