As far as I know it is only recommended to renew it at least 1 month before. I renewed it after that, as I was waiting for my company, and it was still fine.
Yes, you r right. "Apply at least 1 month before expiry date of your status" is the recommended time period by IRCC.
Otherwise, Foreign nationals also have 90 days from the date they lose their temporary resident status to apply for restoration of status.

Folks, not to discourage anyone a bit and this maybe an unpopular opinion here. I landed in Quebec 2016 as a temporary skilled foreign worker and till I got my PR in 2020 I was living a stressful life till then. Just so you know there was a Federal Express Entry draw for 76 points ! and what does that make you all waiting for Quebec look like ?

Anyone who have the means to leave Quebec, leave right NOW. Quebec do not deserve your tax money or skills at all. The people who knows only French cannot leave Quebec and its their fate. If you have the skills and can handle English leave Quebec for your own good. 4 or 5 years living with stress will eat up your happiness and longevity.

The very next month I got my PR, I packed up and left Quebec for good. I will never set foot in that province again. I am not grateful to Quebec at all. If there was a law, I would have sued Quebec for their delays and anti immigrant stance which affected me mentally and my career all the while taking my tax money.

Hi guys,

I'm a October 2018 applicant.
This is my situation.

  1. We received your application for permanent residence on September 4, 2018.
  2. We sent you correspondence acknowledging receipt of your application(s) on October 30, 2018.
  3. We started processing your application on October 30, 2018.
  4. We sent you medical instructions on January 29, 2020.
  5. Medical results have been received. February 14, 2020 - Medical Passed
  6. I got a ghost update on December 2020, but application is still in progress.
  7. Contacted my local MP on February 11th 2021, and he told me that all verifications are now completed, and I should hear from IRCC within a month.
If I don't he advised that I contact his office again.
My application was started in Canada, but later was moved to Manila because I temporarily moved to Korea. I've returned in 2019, but my application is still being processed in Manila. I contacted IRCC from Canada, but they can't give me any information regarding my application since it's being processed from outside of Canada.

Total wait time : 28months

If anybody has any information on what to do, please let me know. Cheers!

Truly it's a very traumatizing experience.

I understand you but I hope you realize how extremely lucky is this draw - 75 points limit. I agree with you about Quebec, I live here for 8 years and 4 of them I spent waiting for my documents, kind of unfair. It's entirely my fault trusting this province. Gook luck to you!

I totally agree...I strongly advised couple of my friends to leave quebec and apply express entry , they got there PR within 6 months . They thank me every time because they have seen me going through the Quebec process and then wait wait wait and finally receiving PR after 25 months.

For somebody that hasn't requested the PR or just started it, I definitely agree. But after waiting 26 months, I hope this will be over soon and starting all over again doesn't make much sense. The problem is that we don't receive any timelines we can trust and that makes us stressed but hopeful.. :-(

Hello, has anyone already added their common-law partner near the end of the process? I have already received the IVM. Thank you

Is your common law partner Canadian or a permenant resident? There's different things to send them depending on that.
