It's better if you could start the renewal process and send a webform to IRCC with the updated passports and Letter of Explanation. This way you can avoid any processing delays because of this reason.

There is no definite number of days for Security. BGC happens in 2 stages 1) Criminality and 2) Security. The duration varies from case to case.
Also If your application has been assigned for Security Screening, it can take up to 18 months for clearance.

I didnt have time to go through it in detail but I think the first two is regarding the eligibility evaluation, the third is moving my case to Paris VO, and the final is for initiating my background check.

Same here, My AOR is 30th Sep and as per IRCC yesterday, my medical is passed, criminality is in progress and nothing else has started

My AOR is 26 Sep, my eligibility is passed as I checked from GCMS 3 weeks ago. Criminality is in progress and security is not started yet.
