Any idea how is AOR given as I too applied in Oct 2020 but I have not heard back from IRCC. I enquired through the webform with no response.

Seems it is very random as I can see someone application is Oct 9th but received an AOR 1 week ago...
Did you tried calling CIC ?

Try not to worry.. The longest period we had to wait for was for the AOR (Since we applied during the pandemic) .. Regarding the second AOR.. Not at VO issue it, in fact most don't.. You can always keep a close eye on ECAS as it is updated daily to know if your application was received.

An update for my child's application.
Today (Feb 01, 2021) I received 2 emails.
One is SA, and saying my child's PR application will be forwarded to a VA for further processing.
Second is the medical request form (IMM1017) for my child.

Thanks, I still can't believe, I thought it will take time for medical request I remember when I applied my PR, medical request means almost done. For now, do they just send you medical request form anyway? even they just start processing it?

Depending on the VO. For instance, Cairo VO sends medical request after they receive the file. If it's for eg, New Delhi VO they send the medical request prior to forwarding it to the VO. So it depends. That's great that you get to do it sooner rather than later. So happy for you!!! Congrats again

Applied both in early December, 2020.

Application for Visitor visa approved for my child today.
One hurdle crossed, now the long wait for PR approval.

Yes tried calling but it seems application number is required. Also enquired through webform a week ago with no response.my application was also received on Oct 9th but not received AOR yet.

What did you state as the reason for Visitor Visa, I had applied for my child last year but it was rejected.

I mentioned my intentions honestly. I said it was a dual intent (i.e.) I was applying for both Visitor and PR.
PR would take time bcz of Covid so I am applying for Visitor visa, so that my family can be with me here in Canada.
Also I did not have Canadian Bank Account at the time I applied for my child's Temporary visa, but I showed my Indian bank account details to show proof of funds.

I think with correct paperwork and intentions stated clearly, I had it within a record time period.
