In a way this process is better because as per earlier process there are travel restrictions for any PR application approved after 18th March 2020.

you have to inform IRCC you are outside canada and they will send further process which I am not aware of but its not that easy which I have read through different post.

Technically, YES because it comes via email or from MyCIC Portal and it clearly says that applicant is PR now.

The following is the wording from the letter :

I am pleased to advise you that your application for permanent residence in Canada is now complete. Congratulations! You are now a permanent resident of Canada!

In summary, the following are the steps :
1. You will have to fill IMM 5424E and send a scanned copy along with all the required documents to following email address : IRCC.COVIDPRTD-TVRPCOVID.IRCC@cic.gc.ca

2. IRCC will acknowledge and process the application. Once the application is finalized they will send passport request letter on email.

3. After receiving the passport request letter contact India VAC i.e. VFS on following email address : PassportSubmission@vfshelpline.com. You would need to share the details in the email. Proforma is given here : https://assets.ctfassets.net/xxg4p8...84483014a37ecb8055/Proforma-2_Way_Courier.pdf

You need to apply once you reach India.

Here's my PRTD timeline:

Application by Email: January 05, 2021
Acknowledgement of Receipt: January 05, 2021
Passport Request: January 21, 2021

In case someone didn't know, PRTD applications by email also can be linked to CIC account in the same way as we link PR Card application. I did not receive any messages in the account, just got an email from IRCC.COVIDPRTD-TVRPCOVID.IRCC@cic.gc.ca email address asking for passport submission; the application had a ghost update though.

Did you have RO of having 2 years staying in canada before you applied for TD?
If someone does not have 2 years RO, and PR is expired, do they give TD to return back to Canada?

You have to prove there are H&C reason for not being able to not return like family illness where you were the only person who could be the caretaker. Choosing to attend medical school abroad was your personal choice.

i applied in the first week of December and received it last week. PRTD is valid for an year with multiple entries
