* To go to India, what visa should one apply for ?
* Is BLS processing that visa appl. in the current scenario?
* Will India allow those visa holders in, in the current scenario?

but seems like e tourist visa holders are currently barred to enter India.
And that means I will have to get OCI from within Canada ( 6-8 wks).

As per India consulate in Toronto, One can use an Indian passport for 3 months after the oath if one has not got a Canada Passport yet.
In that case , you will have to apply for a Canada Passport at Canada High Commission in India or else how will you return to Canada ( PR card destroyed)?
Also, there will be an issue while leaving India on a Canada Passport, when you entered using the Indian Passport.

Actually my situation demands that I be in India in 1st week of nov for a period of 6-7 months.
But, going by current timelines, it will take total 14-16weeks to get my OCI after my oath in sept,
which means I will only be able to travel in Jan. (too late).
( 3 wks citizenship certificate, 5 wks Canada passport, 6-8 wks OCI)

No. Most sources told me no Indian visas are available, so I decided to apply for OCI in Canada.
I have not yet applied , I am waiting for my Canada passport.
Can you please tell me what emergency visa have you got for India and on what grounds?
Maybe I will be able to get that too .
Also, what I know about applying for OCI in India;
*Surrender your Indian passport first at the Passport office in your jurisdiction.
Once you get the surrender certificate,
*Then apply for OCI on line and visit the nearest FRRO office with all documents.( with appointment) .
