Roughly 5-6 months processing, and you can apply within 4 months of your current work permit expiry at the earliest. I'm exhausted by the process. I have a job offer that will wait for me until the end of the year - I will miss out if I don't get my status sorted out.
Are you in Canada ? If yes, you could explain to your employer that you are waiting for IRCC decision on your PR application and you have applied BOWP so you have implied status to continue to work in Canada.

You can change jobs if you are on an open work permit.
Rules might permit it, but the reality is completely different. Hiring a person, who might potentially lose their status at any moment is a huge risk. My current employer is uncomfortable with the situation, let alone a new one. Canadian immigration system looks great on paper and probably is better than in many other countries, but there are still aspects of the process that could be improved.

I applied BOWP in May as well. It was stuck for biometrics but they approved the BOWP without biometrics a week back. Got the BOWP for 1 year.

Still awaiting biometrics call for PR.

Hi - what documents from employer are required to apply for BOWP? I have AOR and awaiting R10 completeness check.
(The website mentions some documents needed from employer - so am confused).

Hi,

My employer applied for closed WP last month. I just received my AOR and is it OK if I apply for BOWP now?

Can I have both my BOWP and Closed WP processed at the same time?

My Closed WP is getting expired in December 2020.

Any suggestions will be of great help.

I believe that yes. However, I'm almost sure that they wouldn't be both approved (they may ask if you want to keep both applications running or cancel one of them after you apply for Bowp, if u want to keep both they probably would evaluate the closed wp first and if this is approved they may cancel the second work permit application).

Thanks, I hope so!
Had a ghost update on my BOWP looks like they started working on my file or finished the process not sure..But the only change i see is Background check changed to not applicable and eligibilty section in the beginning use to say "We recieved your application and will update you when we start reviewing it."(not exactly same but something like that) now it changed to we started reviewing your application..So have to see if they approve it in a week or so as i see the applicants from may 1st and 2nd week got their BOWP's apporved.mine in may 22nd

BOWP apporved today no email notification just application got updated May 22nd applied and PR waiting for bio call from SC.Yesterday saw GU and if its matter of 1day to process the BOWP immigration is really behind to clear off the lag which took me to wait for 6months..

They should hire more ppl if they feel that they dont have enough staff i mean its not just because of CoVId this lag for PR usually there is long waiting times..I know as i applied for PGWP online application which took 1month to process..

Well anyway atleast they are processing files as i see many ppl recieving COPR lately..
