How much income do I need to sponsor my parents and grandparents?
You, the sponsor (and your co-signer, if you have one) must prove you have enough income to support all the people you’ll be financially responsible for once you become a sponsor. This includes yourself.
If you’re invited to apply, you have to provide proof that you meet the income requirements for each of the 3 tax years before the date you apply.
We can’t assess whether you meet the income requirements until you apply (if you’re invited). Note: the minimum income requirements for the 2020 season aren’t final yet. We’ll post them here as soon as we have updated information.

Guys, I don't know but I think FCFS is way better than the lottery. As least we can take all our effort to beat the real people, it is under our control, just being the quickest one.
Now with lottery, we leave our chance to god's decision....and lots of people were not blessed for many years before 2019. Will you be that one again in this year round? will you be happy with the outcome?
So the program is finally back!!!
And Lottery is now selected, while IRCC is brain-storming to figure out the better way... So be it folks, better than being suspended!
The EOI would close on Nov 3. When do you guys guess the result would then be annouced?
And the years of the family total income, which would be, 2017 "or" 2018 - 2019 "or" 2020...
Lots of folks get decreased income during the COVID-19 lock-down, Some are even not recovering to the pre-COVID-19 level...
It would be interesting to see what bring next...
But in any case, GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF US!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

what does that mean? I came here as a student and before i got my PR i have filed 5 times and after PR i have filed twice. Now confused about My eligibility to sponsor my mother. Can someone help me on this, please. Thanks!!!
Hi Everyone,
I also want to sponsor my parents however I have resigned from my work because I am moving to Ontario this month .. But my husband has job and his income will be enough to sponsor according to last year income chart.. just wondering if we will be ok to sponsor my parents. Me - main sponsor and my husband-co-sponsor ..
I am going to look for other job in Ontario but I am not sure if I can get it in 1/2months time frame..
Will you please help me to understand criteria?
Thank you !!

I prefer FCFS too. You can influence your chances by being prepared use resources etc.
Whereas with lottery it is just luck.
Maybe what they can do is to have 2 years lottery 1 year FCFS. And have that cycle going.
So it satisfies everyone to some extent. Those who are happy to just keep trying in the lottery still have lottery. Those who believe in FCFS have a shot every 3 years too.

Count 3 tax years before the date you apply. So for 2020, since when you apply 2020 tax return likely isn't filed yet, look at 2017, 2018, 2019. What you were do not matter. If you did not make enough when you were a student, then you need to wait till you have 3 years of enough income to apply.

As long as the combined income is over the required income for the number of people in the family, you are fine. They only look at per tax year.
They also do not care if you are employed or not. As long as you plus your co-signer's combined income is enough to support the family size. And you need to continue to maintain the income level after you applied.
If the rule hasn't changed, you can both apply for the intend to sponsor (i.e. enter the lottery). If both of you and your sibling are luckily chosen to apply, only one of you should appy. (logically, one that has more stable job situration and higher income should apply. But it's up to you and your sibling's decision.)
Guys, question: I married my wife this year and I want to sponsor my parents and grandmother, so my incomes for 2017 - 2019 should cover 4 people (exclude my wife because we are not married until 2020) and for 2020 should cover 5 people, am I right?
