same here, We applied on June 14th as well. No idea what will happen. If TRV is granted, we would be OK if the PR takes a bit longer, being together is what matters to us most.
I will do so when I finish my work (it also depends on the home country so mine might be different than yours). and NO, it has no effect on the PR application
I applied for visitor visa (except) too on Jun 11th. No news so far! Only the profile changed to updated 1 week ago, but nothing was changed, probably a ghost update!
Thank you
I thought, I can apply through the GCKey and today I was searching about the visitor visa and I found that”Until further notice, most foreign nationals cannot travel to Canada, even if they have a valid visitor visa”. My friend’s mum has the visitor visa and she couldn’t come to Canada because of COVID 19. It’s confusing me but I will try to apply for my husband ,so hopefully I can see him here in Canada.
I got pre arrival letter on 23 june, but my medical have expired on 17 june and they send me an email about that;
"Your medicals have expired on 17 June 2020. However, we will be asking for a medical extension which, depending on the country of your residency during the past 6 months, can be extended for 6 or 12 months.
Your file is currently in the queue for the secondary review. Once this is finalized we will be requesting our regional medical office to assess for medical extension.
In case the extension is not granted, you will have to redo the medical examinations."

Oh God, so you need get this medical exam one more time ?( pre arrival letter is good sign though, will take some to take this exam again and they process it, then probably will send you passport request, this is what I’m thinking but hopefully will be easier. Good luck!
Is there anyone who submitted an application for visitors visa while you wait for permanent resident visa? If so then what type of visa did you apply for? And also do you have to do biometric and things like that for it as well?

Do not be worry, redoing the medical exam is the easiest and fastest part, if they want it. Good news is that they are working on your application and pre-arrival is the best part. Whene did you pass the medical?

Mehdi, if you dont mind me asking,
How is that easy? Also, Do they charge you again with the same amount to take the test?
I find it very stupid that they ask the applicant to do the medical at the beginning (in my wife's case after only 2 months of applying for PR) then they make you wait 12+ months then they ask to do medical and police certificate again.
Pre-arrival letter is not the issue. They have started giving those out starting July 1st. The issue is getting the passport request letter for the visa, which seems like no one has been getting for the past a few months.

For medical your wife doesn't need to go to another country, I did it in my hometown ,Shiraz. In addition the result has been sent to immigration directly by the doctor a day after she complete the test. However I think they will charge you again.

Its pretty simple they dont wanna risk taking in people from other countries during this pandemic. It makes sense but for us its frustrating. id be very glad to get my wife's pre arrival letter. at least i would know they dont want more supporting documents and the rest is just formalities (like another police certificate or medical exam ...) But my wife's application is only 6 months through so i cant complain when i see most of you guys have waited for more than a year. However when i go back in this forum to check the timeline of other applicants or when i talk to my friends who applied back in 2018 or so, most people got their PPR only within 4 months of applying i have no idea what happened since then at Ankara VO (pandemic aside) i dont think its only because they got more applications compared to 2018. Maybe back then they decided to make outland applications get to a final decision faster then they stopped doing that for some unknown reasons. Who knows. It is what it is i guess

Yeah my wife got it done in Tehran right when the pandemic was at its worse in March so she was super stressed to go there but however she got it done so im hoping they dont make us go through it again. And you know how horrible the dollar exchange situation is.. we thought about applying for visitor visa but when i talked with our lawyer she says its very unlikely to get approved right now and doing that might delay the case even further. She said every time you update or send them an email it might be a risk of extension in your timeline ( not sure if thats true, not my words)
