Yes, the self isolation for 14-days is mandated even without symptoms. My COPR is expiring on May-23.
I thought for extension also but if they request re-medical and/or PCC, then again it's a new headache. Checked with immigration doctor also near my place, they are not taking appointments at the moment for immigration medical checkup and it was one month of wait in normal times.
I contacted CBP and they said Non-essential is something like traveling for tourism or visiting friends/family without any emergency. So ideally, we should be allowed to return as we have to report back to work.
They also mentioned, travelling by road is not recommended as the land border agent may or may not allow entry, but assured that by air they will.

Hello sir, where are you from? My COPr is expiring on may 20. Let us connect and share information. I have raised a webform on April 18 indiciating my ticket cancellation and lockdown. No response as of yet from them.
India. We are getting automated response and as per FB page High Commission of Canada in India has assured expired CoPR holders to contact over email once the commercial flights resume. Its just wait and watch for now as things are evolving. My CoPR is expiring next week and I have 3 flight ticket cancellations.
So here’s my question ... my friends husband came to Canada just today he just got his copr recently .... and he came from Pakistan with the repatriatedflight PIA .... without any question .. but how come from india they r saying we won’t allow u if u not a citizen how is this fair ??

keep in mind if your plan is a soft landing then this may be considered non essential travel by CBSA plus there is still the chance of mandatory 14 isolation.
@foxstiger
I just booked my tickets from Delta JFK to YYZ for May-14.
First class ticket is a good deal compared to economy class price.
Economy was coming to be $279 with 2 checked bags but first class was $249 with 2 free checked bags..
Great! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. No more cancellation.
I'm still watching the situation of Air Canada. If they extend the suspension post May 23, I'll go with Delta.

Yup, as I mentioned earlier, I'm planning to stay for 15 days and yes, we do not have to tell CBSA about soft landing otherwise they do not apply for PR card and they will ask to apply for prtd next time.
