Dear friends. I am looking for an advise. We have been in living in Alberta, Canada during the last 4 years. I am doing my PhD at the Canadian University. My wife has a Master degree and has a Canadian work experience for almost 2 years. As I understood, the Canadian work experience in order to be eligible for Canadian experience class should be from NOC 0,A or B. Right now, her duties is somewhere in the middle between B and C, I read somewhere, that her work experience can be considered as NOC B because she has a Master degree. Is it true? Do we have any chances to be eligible under Canadian Experience Class? Thank you!

Regardless of the degree, the work experience will be classified based on the lead statement and the job duties/responsibilities listed in her letter of reference.

If she is able to prove that her work experience is NOC B, how many points she will get for that? Or it will be absolutely different draw from express entry pool? Thank you!

There would be no different draw. She will get points for 2 years of work experience (you can check that on the score simulator). If she gets around 465+ points she will get the ITA and you can apply under CEC. The advantage of CEC is that you don't need to show proof of funds.

The points are calculated based on the length of the employment, independently of the type of employment (provided it is NOC O, A or B).

Her Master's degree will independently award her points (but if the degree is not from Canada you will need an ECA that attests that her foreign degree is in fact equivalent to a Canadian Master).

The only difference, between NOC O vs NOC A or B is in amount of points that are awarded if you have secured employment for when she becomes a PR (100 vs 50 if I am not wrong).

It is up to you to provide proof (letter from employer with full description of duties) of the NOC you have selected to apply.

Hope this helps!
