Security Screening - tentative timelines

Hi there,

We had ordered GSMS notes from CBSA and CSIS for our spousal application, received CBSA notes today. The notes indicate eligibility is passed as of September 4, 2019, Security in progress since October 10, 2019, Criminality isn't started and medical is passed.

Next to the type of security screening it mentions - comprehensive. Under the due date it says November 7, 2019.

Wanted to know is comprehensive screening is normal for all spousal applications and how long can we anticipate this to take? We applied in July 2018.

Hello, am sure you have your pre-arrival letter by now. Comprehensive security screening might take a while. Somewhere between 6-12months.

I have already get pre arrived letter on Oct.9 after that no update until now.

Comprehensive screening is really frustrating and in my own opinion it is a hoax, completely unnecessary. It might be due to your country of origin, travel history and few other things. But you will get your positive decision in the end.

Comprehensive screening is really frustrating and in my own opinion it is a hoax, completely unnecessary. It might be due to your country of origin, travel history and few other things. But you will get your positive decision in the end.

No too soon i think...they started the background check in October so only 2 months in so far.

Everyone is saying 6 months average is wait time...fingers crossed that its leas than that.
