I am working as a SeniorSoftware Testing and Quality Assurance Analyst, and most of my duties and responsibilities are in lines to test automation. So I basically have to write scripts using programming languages to automate manual testing.
I am in a little dilemma whether I should choose Software engineers and designers (2173) or Information systems testing technicians (2283).
As per my little research on ca job-bank websites, I found many jobs that required test automation experts and the NOC there was stated as 2173. Also, 2173 has much much better job prospects as compared to 2283. Therefore, I am keen on choosing 2173, however, some suggest me to go with 2283 as my principal job duty is more relevant to Testing/QA (2283).
Is anyone in a similar situation and would like to throw some light over this? Any advice will be highly appreciated. Do you guys think I should proceed with 2173 or 2283? More importantly, does anyone know whether the NOC one chooses during the PR process affects future job prospects? Will Canadian employers look into your NOC while employing?

I'm in a similar situation. I do QA automation too. I have a letter from my manager which is in line with 2174 but I only cover 5/8 duties. For 2283 I cover 5/5 duties but I'm not sure if 2283 is for manual testing only or automation too. Which one did you end up using?
