Applied for what? What do you mean by the media and entertainment route? You need to indicate what you applied for (PR?) and under which specific immigration program.

Thanks for your response. I actually applied for permanent residence under the self-employed program. Iam a makeup artist and fashion designer hence i applied as one. I was told that the makeup artist and fashion designing is grouped under entertainment route.

In that case your processing times are normal. The self-employment immigration stream has relatively long processing times. You should expect it will be around two years (possibly more) before you have a decision.

I really appreciate ur response. Just that i felt that by now, they ought to have asked for biometrics, and medicals. Even am not sure background check has been done. The only thing that shows on the status is processing.

But that doesn't rule out the possibility of being offered a PR through that means. If fashion designers weren't needed then they would have stopped accepting applications from people who are fashion designers just as they did with farmers.

There is stupidly no correlation between jobs and express entry except in pnp propgrams. For example Canada has too many pharmacists and dentists. So much so that the immigrating dentists and pharmacists have been significantly hurting the job market and salaries for the current and graduating Canadian pharmacists and dentists for years. Even though salaries have been cut in 1/3 in the past 10 years for pharmacists in many areas in Canada there are likely hundreds of phArmacists getting PR this year through express entry. If you are granted PR doesn’t mean you will be able to work in fashion. Make-up artist often work for weddings or at make-up counters.

The use of the word "stupid" is uncalled for. Your earlier response to my post implied that the reason for the delay was because there was no need for fashion designerers because the market was small and saturated. At least that was what i deduced. However, non of your replies has so far addressed my question which was " why my status keep showing processing after so many months".

In my opinion it's too early for any of these - especially the background check. IRCC would at this time most likely still be assessing if you meet the program requirements. It takes a long time for applications to be processed through the self-employment stream because you don't just have to have the relevant work experience - but also must have that work expernience at a world-class level, meaning that you are either natinally or preferrably internationally recognized in your artistic field. It takes longer for IRCC to perform this assessment to verify that applicants meet this requirement - it's not as straight forward as Express Entry or PNP.

@Joy chukwu, I pray your waiting will end in praise.
Pls I am a fashion designer too and I am still filling forms. I kind of got confused with schedule 6A form where I need to declare my cash and assets.
I have 5 dependants and the POF for us is $32k which is huge and not in my account but in assets which I intend to sell when needed.
Now my question is do I need to have the cash I filled in the total amount available for settlement in Canada colum $32k in my account as at the time of filling the form or when proof of fund is requested for? I intend selling some properties to raise the POF when the time comes?

You would need the funds in your account for 6 months and when you move to Canada since you will need money to establish yourself before you get a job. Are you sure you qualify for immigration. Do you or your spouse have multiple degrees? Are you under 49 but preferable much younger? There isn’t a big market for fashion designers in Canada.

It's possible that your application doesn't have a portfolio or other important documents. Have you attached to your CV a diploma of completion of courses like https://www.nwcollege.edu/programs/advanced-aesthetics or other aesthetic courses? You must prove that you have the right to work for them and have an education, a fine taste, and a fine sense of style. Thanks to a beautiful portfolio and a high-quality CV, your future employers will be interested in you as a good specialist, whom they should listen to at the interview and hire. You should know how important this is. In addition, such agencies are afraid to accept some losers without a track record or recommendations. I'd enlist the support of someone from this field.
