I got my 'provisional' results from BC Dubai and was quite shocked with my R score. I'm a native English speaker and was quite sure of my R score being at least 7.5/8 after the test.
Note that I wrote the PC based exam.
These are my results:
L 8.5 R 6.5 W 7.5 S 9 (overall band 8)
Now I really needed R to be at least a 7 as the CRS score has a multiplier effect which would give me 462 points, however, as it stands I'm on 404 at best. This means that I need a +0.5 improvement in R to achieve this.
Most Ppl suggest that you rather rewrite the exam seeing that L & R is subjective based on the marker, however, if you do the PC based exam, does this mean that a computer automatically marks the L & R sections and no subjectivity is applied to my answers in these sections?
Can I ask for a re-evaluation of the R part only, and how long would it take - and is there any point in doing so?
The time constraint is that I need to put in my EE profile before my next birthday on 15th October as I'll lose another 5 points (age 34 currently). So I either gamble with remarking R section only or rewrite that whole damn test
I'm really struggling to find the answers on the Internet - please help!
I have the same score, I have applied for EOR. In my previous attempt, I scored 8.5 in writing (I knew that I messed up in reading and scored 6.5); therefore I could not believe that I scored 6.5 in this attempt, when I have 8.5 in both listening and reading and 7.5 in speaking. Though, I was not hoping for 8.5 but I hoped for at least 7.0.
In my opinion, if money is not a huge issue for you and if you have scored 7.0+ in your previous attempts (if any) OR if you have any teacher who evaluated your IELTS writing and gave you 7.0+, I would recommend you that you should go for it. As rafal mentioned in one of the above posts, almost everyone is getting 0.5 increase these days.
Also, if you think that you wrote essay and letter (especially essay) in the IELTS format, with relevant examples, over word counts and correct conclusion. You should go for it.
Also, I have gone through almost every page of this forum and realized that out of 10 people, 6-7 people got their band increased.

This is bad. You got such good score in other bands, you should have got positive EOR.
My worry is I got same score as you but just 6 in writing. negative EOR will hurt my confidence and my pocket. Need 7 in writing.
fingerscrossed and waiting.
Dear all, I recently sat for the IELTS exam twice. My first attempt got me L8.5 R9.0 W6.5 S8.5. Since writing pulled my CRS score down significantly, I've decided to take the exam again. My latest result was L9.0 R9.0 W7.0 S8.5. A 7.5 score in Writing will give me 465 points, three points up from 462.
Would it be wise to request EOR for my second attempt given the risk that it may take a long time for the results to come out? My birthday is coming up (Dec 1st) and my WES evaluation report is due by end of September. I am also thinking of requesting EOR for my first result (hoping I will get 6.5 to 7.5 for writing), or just take the exam for a third time (which is financially and psychologically draining lol)? Thanks a lot!

I think at 462 you will definitely get the nomination as 460 is regular cutoff, 457 is rare so does 463. so 462 should be fine and start preparing other documents.
I have been a lurker here for sometime. I sat for computer delivered test from IDP On 17th Aug. Results declared on 21st Aug LRWS 8,8,6.5,7.5. Applied for EOR on 26th Aug online, received an email today stating there has been a change in my scores.and I need to send my old TRF.
Very happy today, and this forum gave me the strength and encouragement to go ahead with EOR.
also for writing I have not followed any blogs, sites or forums. I just wrote how I write in everyday life. So if you are confident that you did well, please go ahead with EOR.
