Expired temporary resident visa and stuck in USA

Hello,
I have completed my education in Canada and held a valid temporary resident visa which got expired on July 31, 2019. I have already applied for my work permit and it’s currently under review for approval. I just finished school and waiting for my work permit. I’m currently working on part time basis. I have a valid USA visitor visa.
Due to a family emergency I crossed the Canada border to USA and then realized about my expired trv. My work permit application is under process from almost 2 and half months. I need to get back to Canada to resume my work. Is there any way I can return back to Canada ASAP?

You normally dont need a TRV to return to Canada if you are just visiting the US and have valid status in Canada. Your implied status might complicate things but it seems like you should be allowed in.

My study permit validity is same as my TRV validity which got expired just few weeks back. I had applied for my work permit long back and the status is under process. Will the work permit application status still be valid if I need to go back. As I will be driving back to Canada, can I show them and request to consider it?

The work permit will still be in process.

Note that you will be re-entering as a visitor and will not be allowed to work until your PGWP is approved.

How long will the process take to obtain visitor visa?
Will the border agency issue a visitor visa there itself if I drive back there with my work permit under process status? As I need to get back ASAP due to my commitments back in Canada.
Or
Can I travel using an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) and travel back to enter Canada right away?

TRVs are not issued at the border.

Do you qualify for an eTA? What passport do you hold? If you qualify - that would certainly be the fastest route...

No.... I don’t qualify for eTA. What would the fastest way to resolve my issue as my commitments in Canada will be a problem.

It sounds like you have implied status - so you should be allowed back in without a valid TRV (provided you have only traveled to the US and to no other country). Bring paperwork to prove the implied status (i.e. when your visa expired and the fact you've applied for a PGWP).

You don't apply for a visitor visa. You show up at the border and enter as a visitor.

Thank you all for your advices regarding my problem. The immigration authorities didn’t question much about my implied status and I managed to get back to Canada.
