This is my timeline:

January 8, 2019 application delivered

February 27, 2019 application accepted email

March 26, 2019 requested biometrics

March 27, 2019 sponsor approved

March 27, 2019 requested medical exams

March 29, 2019 submitted medical exams and biometrics.

I then received this letter March 29, 2019. What exactly does this mean? It was basically the last correspondence I received. It has now been 4 months and I haven't heard anything. Other people that applied in January 2019 have already received decisions....please help!


Visa application, tracking ID No...The envelope for the decision on the results of your visa that has been processed has been received at the Canadian Visa Application Center at Bogota OC,Columbia, on the date. Looks like that might be your file transfer. If you look on ecas, it will tell u when (if) the date of processing is at the visa office after file transfer. After it has been transferred, expect a good long wait.

I'm not sure what ecas is...but it says the envelope for the decision on the results of your visa that has been processed. Does that mean that they know whether there is an approval or refusal?

Ive never heard of that, so not quite sure. But if that is your file transfer email, it would seem right to not hear anything fir 4 months.
Ecas is an online tool that you can use to follow your application. You can use your file #, or receipt # to get into it.

Ok. Thanks. It is confusing. I have looked there but found gckey to be more specific. I'm mostly asking because I see others with similar timelines that have already received pr cards

Yeah, it sure can be. Different visa offices have different timelines, so some are quicker than others, thats why u may find some get through faster than others. Good luck!

Thank you! One last question for anyone that can answer. Is it normal for gckey to have your home address correct and ecas to have it wrong? I try to change it on ecas but can't change the mailing address

I think what was received was your biometrics results that were done through VFS. Note that none of the communication that you had mentioned was from IRCC or CPCs, they were from VFS. However, since your biometrics has been recieved in Bogota, then your file may have transfered there already (we really cannot tell with IRCC). Note, i could be wrong here.

I did finally get through to them on the phone. It is only my biometrics. Sadly my file is still in Sydney and will eventually be transferred to Mexico. I'm just not sure what is taking 4 months just to transfer.

Yeah 4 months is a bit long to transfer, but this whole system is a huge wait.

for some cases that go to London or Mexico it took 6-8 months to transfer
