Sounds like crazy intern act!!

I would be inclined to agree. The eCAS shows incorrect spelling of my stepfather's last name (my mom is the PA and her last name is spelled fine). I called CIC to correct the error but they were "not able to see the application". Whoever entered the data in a system for eCAS did it manually (typed) and was in a hurry apparently.

No, I got another letter last week requesting supporting documents.

correct. PGP 2019 only few got AoR.
majority people linked application with UCI # in myCIC and get File # start with "F"
under myCIC you can check Date submitted >> that date is like AoR date. but no Email.

My application was received on 1st May. And I got additional document request on 2nd July, with temporary application number (starting with XF).
I submitted those, 2 days back.
My question is - should I be able to see my eCAS status at this point ? I am unable to see eCAS, neither am I able to link myCIC.
Should I call their agent ?

you have temp file # that means they got your file .
you are unable to check Ecas means they not enter your file in online system yet
