I have got my PR card , but right now outside CANADA.
My son's passport got renewed due to expiry, so do I need to update the passport details somewhere ? if yes how and where ?

Your PR card is not relevant to your son.
If your son is a PR with own PR card and has a new passport he does not need to inform anyone.
