I can’t quite believe how few updates the people with applications in Montreal are getting. I thought Vancouver was a little slow, but from what I’ve seen so far, I believe most of us with applications there have now landed.

I had my work permit in less than 3 months from applying, had no updates at all until the medical request at the beginning of February. Expected nothing for a while, but had AiP first week of April. Again expected nothing for a while, but three weeks later got a landing appointment from Etobicoke. No system updates, at all. In fact, it wasn’t until after my CoPR was generated that the system updated to approved. Then the next day I had e-mails telling me to check my account.

I would read nothing into the updates you do, or don’t receive, the system is slow to update. It doesn’t mean that nothing’s being done on your application though. I had one update from medical request to landing appointment, that was AiP. I was shocked to say the least, as according to the system I was a long way from landing. After landing, I got all the updates at once.

I know how much of a headache not knowing where you’re at is though, I’ve been there. Try to not focus on it too much. Live your life and be happy. You’ll be landing soon and looking back laughing about all this worrying.

Just wanted to post a little update on my sponsorship application for my husband; application was received June 18, 2018 for timeline purposes. Received the open work permit back in September or October don’t remember the date but it’s in the thread. End of March 2019 received request for medical report and passed February 8th, 2019. Now today May 6th got a phone call for a telephone interview. Completed that. Estimated finish time is June 18, 2019. Only question is did anyone else get a telephone interview and know why they do those?

Quick question guys. Where is the parking for the IRCC Eitobicoke.
Thanks
There is a parking lot underneath the building, that is accessed via the road at the side of it that leads to Kipling Station. The IRCC office is on the first floor, right outside the elevators that bring you up from the parking lot.

Didn’t have one personally, but from what I’ve read, the phone interviews are for when the immigration officer wants to clarify some details or aspects of the application, prior to approval.

If you get called in for a face to face interview, it’s generally due to them doubting the relationship is genuine. That’s where you have the opportunity to convince them otherwise. Phone interviews seem to be less serious and done to clarify something. I’m assuming their questions focussed on your relationship.

All of the above is what I’ve read on here, so it’s purely anecdotal. However, a phone interview vs an in person interview would absolutely seem to be way more casual in nature in my opinion. I very much doubt you’d be getting a phone interview if they had concerns about the validity of your relationship, you’d be scheduled for an in person interview for that.

I read in other forums that it could be just a quality check. Could you please share some of the questions they asked?

There are delays for people landing in Vancouver— it’s a long wait between getting approved and scheduling the landing interview. In other cities, it takes a few days/weeks for interviews; Vancouver is taking weeks to months right now.

If you are landing somewhere else and they’re just processing your app in Vancouver for work-sharing, though, that’s different. I haven’t heard about delays for applications still in process/prior to DM.

I asked this question before but did't get a response. Our app is getting processed in Montreal. We live in Edmonton. with regards to the landing interview, where will it be? Will it be in our city?

So they called me the sponsor. I missed the first call but the person had left a message and I called back right away. Questions they asked included; martial status, where we live now and previously, how many bedrooms, bathrooms, first day we met in person, our addresses when we first met, day we got married, have either of us left the country since application, my husbands current status in Canada, where we work, hours and such, when my husband first came to Canada, date of birth, names, phone numbers and emails. During the phone call he also asked if my husband was around so he could ask him questions and confirm stuff but he was at work so they are calling him the applicant tomorrow. The questions just seemed like the generals ones that we filled out in the application but I’m guessing just to update them on any changes since then. We also have a child together so I’m not sure if that plays a factor in phone interview vs. in person interview. Also the call only lasted 20 minutes so it was pretty quick.
