Passport request and new passport?

Hi there, my father received passport request letter for Visitor Visa but his current passport validity is 1.5 years. Is there a problem if he renew his passport and send the new passport to VAC office for stamping visa? Thanks

There might or not. In normal circumstances there isn't an issue, but some VPCs do not like that the applicant changes the documentation that was sent from the beginning.

Call them and confirm this is ok.

He must submit his current/new passport within 30 days from the passport submission request.

He must inform the visa office that although his application was with the current passport, he has applied/will get a new passport.

BTW there are no guarantees that the TRV validity will be for close to 10 years/until the full passport validity

I applied for a new passport with urgent processing, and submitted that. Also wrote a short email to visa processing office, saying that the visa was issued for my mom's old passport, but because it was about to be expired I'm sending a new one. Also mentioned both passport numbers, and I think Also attached passport bio of old one and new one. Obviously they don't reply, but they stamped her new passport with a 10 year (-6 months) visa. So all well
