How do we then get signatures of the person we're sponsoring considering this may take ages to and from third world countries?

Thank you for your reply.I am sponsoring my mother who is a widow. She has only two siblings (out of five) who are alive . We don't know many dates like my mother's date of marriage or her father's/mother's birth dates or we have no record of her schooling etc so we will be getting affidavit made for these reasons.

Best thing you can do is get ready for affidavit and prepare the document which will be required for affidavit and get it done when you get invitation to apply. Although there is no confirmation from IRCC yet for timeline but by looking into form for Income LICO i am assuming April because they have given option to select weather you have received income assessment for 2018. Feb 28 is last date for employers to send T4 and another month can take to fill Income assessment and process.

You will need to use fast courier service and get document . Usually it takes 5 business days for most couriers. Time can differ from country to country but try to get information about courier company you can use and time frame for sending documents.

Is there any value for a non working spouse to sign the application as co-signer ?, Does it weaken your case if spouse is not working and both kids and her are dependent on you even if your single income is very high.
Is anyone else in the same boat where spouse is not working and you are sponsoring parents ?

Yes there might be people who have submitted the interest to sponsor but they do not qualify. This is why IRCC have admitted 27,000 Submission for 20,000 applications.

If spouse is not working then there is no benefit to add to application as Co-Signer.
Co-Signer is only needed if your income is not enough to sponsor.
As long as your income meets LICO then don't bother to add Co-Signer.

You should be able to use the same affidavit unless it is specified in the application about the date of affidavit.

Well yes if he is eligible to get open work permit but why you want to apply work permit for him. Usually for work permit LMO is required which involves immigration lawyer fee and other fee and it may take 6 months or more to process.

No - not eligible. Open work permits are only available for inland spousal sponsorship. Parents do not qualify.
