You seem like in the same boat as myself. I read that while the Reading and Listening scores rarely change, the chances of the Writing or Speaking to increase is more. So just how much difference will a 7 or 7.5 make in your crs score? I think from 6.5 to 7 in Writing adds several points.
I checked some sample writing tasks by googling and compared mentally to what i had written in my tasks. Once i was confident that what i remembered as writing was definitely similar to some band 7/8 level samples, I applied for EOR. My W-6.5 increased to 7.5 after EOR.

My guess is for CBT, the automatic flagging of results in cases of scores differing more than 2 isn't happening. However, no way to confirm this. Tried talking to the test center people, they had no clue on this aspect. Am 100% sure that for paper based test, this auto flagging of results happens routinely, as my results (Academic/2018) were delayed precisely for this reason.

My result as well as others that wrote same time with me were all delayed by 2 days, so I was thinking they must have rechecked with another examiner, but I am pretty sure I wrote enough to get a band 8.
No. Got 7.5 in original result itself, however the results were delayed for me by about 3 weeks beyond the 13 days norm. I had got mail from IELTS that time, stating that due a routine quality check, my results are withheld and under review. Since that time was applying for a university, i was ok with the scores i obtained.
2019 General(CBT) test, results came out in just 5 days. Hence am sure, my results this time didn't get flagged for the review/validation by experienced folks. Due to the 6.5 to 7 disproportionate influence on CRS, opted for EOR this time.

That's a big jump for 6.5 to 7. I applied for a remark today to see if I can change my 7 to 7.5. While the 3 points won't do anything, it was just annoying to be so close to getting maximum points or a CLB 10.

Oh no, sorry I meant a big jump in points for moving from 6.5 to 7. But from the person I spoke to at the British Council, you can be hopeful to increase your by 0.5 or 1 point if you really think you did better. I went ahead with it because I felt confident, and if I'm right I'll get the full refund. If I'm wrong, I'll not have any regrets not trying.
